Lot 19 Gallery Welcomes New Coordinators: Zoe Hambleton & Tobias Richardson

Zoe Hambleton and Tobias Richardson are pleased to be running, organising, booking and looking after the Lot 19 Gallery from 2019 onwards.

A huge thank you to Ashley Mariani for who has done an amazing job of running the gallery and curating so many stunning shows for Lot 19 up until the end of 2018.

Expect a few changes here at Lot 19 in 2019. These changes will align Lot 19 Gallery with other artist-run spaces across Australia. They will also enable exhibitors to mange, curate and promote their shows according to their own creative needs.

Some of the changes include:

  • A full annual program and more regular opening hours. Lot 19 will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11am – 5pm. And with the cafe open for food & coffee on Saturdays and Sundays there is even more reason to visit!
  • A streamlined agreement between the Lot 19 gallery and artists will see that there is no longer commission on sales for most shows.  (Apart from when the exhibition is curated by Lot 19.)
  • Lot 19’s annual Spring Sculpture show will continue to be curated by Lot 19.
  • Artists are now responsible for creating their own promotional material to be uploaded by Lot 19’s Marketing Coordinator: Tina Helm.  She will ensure that all information about upcoming exhibitions is loaded on the website & social media, and that it is distributed to our friends and fans through our e-news in a timely manner. She’ll also organise press releases and interviews in the lead up to each show.
  • Each year Zoe & Tobias will curate one group exhibition for Castlemaine and beyond artists and creators.  This year on November 1st Love Collage opens and is expected to one of most diverse and out-there exhibitions – please get in touch with Zoe & Tobias if you think you might be interested in showing in this.

This year’s gallery programme is nearly fully booked. Zoe and Tobias are already currently seeking interesting shows of conviction for 2020.  Any artists, curator, groups etc that are interested in exhibiting should get in contact with Zoe and Tobias. They are booking on a first come first served basis presently but this may change as demand grows. They encourage interested parties to get in touch and come and visit the gallery to arrange a show. The gallery’s very reasonable rental prices and accessibility represent a great opportunity for anyone at any stage in their career.

Lot19 has a proud history in the region and is poised to grow in the years to come.
