Thea O’Brien: Nature Whispers Softly Wild, 6-22 April

Nature Whispers Softly Wild is a new exhibition of paintings and ink illustrations by Central Victorian Artist,┬áThea O’Brien. Inspired by journeys to rainforests in Tasmania, Northern NSW and Queensland.

The artist combines the natural elements of trees, rocks, water, plants and animals into an imagined memory vision of place. She is interested in nature symbolism and how the natural world connects to our human psyche without our conscious awareness. The paintings attempt to re-envision nature as an inner dimensional meditation place where colours are saturated and the style is storybook.

Nature Whispers Softly Wild is Thea’s third solo show. She has been working and exhibiting in Central Victoria for ten years. Collage, sculpture and mixed media are other mediums she enjoys working with in her art practice. She completed a Bachelor of Arts at Flinders University and returned to study for a year at Latrobe College of Visual Art and Design in Melbourne in 2017. In 2018 she was a selected artist in the Bob Brown Foundation Tarkine in Motion project.
